Mme Monique Mealey

It is with love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Monique.

Monique was a warm and caring person, always eager to help others. She made many good friends as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Her love for knitting and the many hours spent with friends at the Surrey Knitters Club and playing cards were among the activities that she enjoyed the most.

Her smile, hugs and love will be missed by all.

Une commémoration aura lieu ultérieurement pour célébrer la vie de Monique.

I will miss spending time talking, laughing and generally enjoying the time I spent with Monique at Surrey Knitters. She is the one who encouraged me to join the group in the first place!! May Monique be happier now that she is reunited with David.

      Hi Ann,
My name is Stephanie and I am Monique’s niece. I read your message on the JJ Cardinal web site and I received your sympathy card. I wanted to thank you personally but I don’t have your phone number or email. When you have a minute, could you give me a call? Thanks.

I will miss our many chats, but the time we had has left a warm spot in my heart. Your face always told everyone what a beautiful person you were. I was blessed to have you as my sister-in-law. Rest in peace…Stu Mealey

The memories with Monique and David are wonderful and so numerous. We first met in about 1970 through the hobby of model trains. Monique was quick to welcome my late wife Halina into the social circle and when she heard we had two children Marc and Michelle she was excited. She watched us grow as a family and made us very much part of hers. We had many Christmas’ and holidays with them. Monique was famous for her spaghetti dinners. She was a very passionate and welcoming host. How we enjoyed our trips to Florida to see them as snowbirds when Monique always made us feel so warmly welcome with her smile. The stories and memories are so numerous. Our children even called her “auntie Nick”.
Knitting was one of her hobbies and I still use at home during the winter months a blanket she knitted.
We also enjoyed receiving them in our home as we moved and travelled over the past 50 years.
Monique you will be missed and may you find the peace you so rightfully deserve.
    Bob Wheeler
