1931 – 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce Ellen’s passing on January 20,2023 at the age of 91 at the Jewish General Hospital surrounded by those who loved her.
Courage, resilience, determination and curiosity were at the heart of her being. A loving mother and grandmother who would always be there for you. The family would like to thank the staff at the Jewish General for their care and compassion.
Predeceased by beloved husband Alex Shatilla, survived by sons Kevin (Johanne), John (Carole) Simpson and god-children Karen (Kent), Mark (Carol) Shatilla. Also leaves behind her precious grand-children who brought her so much joy in her life ; Andrew, Matthew (Olivia), Genevieve, Gabrielle, Mark (Sadie) and Kristen Panneton, Phillip and Nadine Shatilla; great -grandchildren Samantha and Benjamin.
The family will receive condolences at JJ Cardinal Funeral Home 2125, Notre-Dame St., Lachine (Québec) H8S 2G5 Tel: 514-639-1511 jjcardinal.ca on Thursday Feb 9th from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held at the chapel at JJ Cardinal Funeral Home on Friday February 10th at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Association pulmonaire du Quebec / Quebec Lung Association https://poumonquebec.ca/faire-un-don, would be appreciated.

You were my mother’s sister my aunt and a devoted wife to my Uncle Alex.
How we relished your company, your smile, and sense of humor.
Ellen, despite the miles and distance has been a symbol of warmth and hospitality.
You were always there to listen to a problem and provide your time to say I care.
