It is with profound sadness that the family announces the death of James Alexander (Jim) McCann at Ste. Anne\u2019s Veterans\u2019 Hospital in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, QC on December 22, 2021. He was 98 years old and at peace at the time of his passing.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He is predeceased by his wife Gis\u00e8le (Desnoyers). He loved his children: James (Joan Moynihan), Mary, Daniel (Beverley Parks), Kathleen (Harry Quart), Jeanne (John Percival), Robert (Carole Thibault) and Patricia-Ann and his 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who were just getting to know him. He is survived by his partner Ethel Lawson. Jim and Ethel enjoyed many happy vacations in Maine and Florida and numerous cruises around the world.<\/p>\n

Jim was a WWII veteran, proudly serving with the 1st<\/sup> Canadian Parachute Battalion, 6th<\/sup> British Airborne Division. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, NDG Branch 24\/106 for over 50 years. His interest in sports, particularly hockey, prompted him to preside over the NDG Park Hockey Association for several years. In 1975, following a career in industrial tool sales, Jim founded McCann Equipment Ltd. The company continues to this day with offices across Canada and in the United States.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jim will forever be remembered as one who \u201cdid it his way\u201d. His secret to a long and vibrant life was simple: \u201cBe passionate about what you are doing. Wake up every day with a plan\u201d. His zest for life was abundant, and anyone who had the pleasure to know him benefited from his character.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Visitations will be held Thursday, January 6th<\/sup> and Friday, January 7th<\/sup> from 2:00 \u2013 4:00 p.m. \u00a0and 7:00 \u2013 9:00 p. m. at J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore Dr., Dorval, QC, 514-631-1511. Proof of vaccinations is required. The funeral will take place at St. Veronica\u2019s Parish, 1300 Carson Ave., Dorval, QC. Saturday, January 8th<\/sup> at 10:30 a.m., by invitation only. Final resting place will be the National Field of Honour in Pointe Claire, QC.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The family wishes to acknowledge the extraordinary care that Dr. Richer and her team of nurses displayed throughout Jim\u2019s six year stay at the Vets. Given this, as well as the attention given to our veterans through Legion visits and planned activities over the years, we recommend donations to Ste.
