She had a sister, Judy (deceased), and a brother, Bill. Myra married Roger Carter in 1958, and they moved to Dorval, Quebec, in 1961.

Myra leaves to mourn her husband of nearly 65 years, Roger, and her two children, Paul and Andrew Carter, both of Montreal. She is also survived by two grandchildren, whom she loved beyond imagination: Michelle and Kevin Aikman-Carter. Myra was immensely proud of her family but would never boast. She leaves them with memories that make them smile. She also leaves countless curling, church, tennis, golf and bridge friends who will miss her bright smile and infectious laugh.

Myra was the glue of the Carter family. Her unexpected loss is difficult, but there is comfort in knowing that she passed without pain, suffering or long illness. She had plans. Myra had been about to travel to Ottawa to play in a curling bonspiel, and then to Montebello to play with the Senior Ladies International Curling Club, of which she was an honorary life member. Her calendar noted that she had planned to host bridge soon, and throughout the house were books she was finishing or about to start.

Myra was an active member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Dorval (now “All Saints by the Lake”) since 1961. She was an avid (and competitive) curler, golfer and tennis player. If she wasn’t playing herself, she was watching sports on TV. She couldn’t just sit and do nothing, so she would always be knitting. She was in the midst of knitting a pair of Newfoundland mitts and working on a hooked rug, with one of her grandmother’s rugs nearby for inspiration. She must have used a thousand balls of wool, knitting socks, toques, sweaters and just about everything else for family, friends, babies, etc. She also made numerous amazing quilts! She was never far from her binoculars and bird books, and there wasn’t a plant that she couldn’t nurse back to life. She loved to travel and had a membership at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

Past President of the Lachine Ladies Curling Club
Past President of the Senior Ladies International Curling Club

As per her wishes, Myra will be cremated.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on February 18, 2023, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow.
Anglican Church of All Saints by the Lake (formerly Parish of St. Andrew and St. Mark’s)
865 Lakeshore Boulevard, Dorval, QC H9S 2C7

A gathering to celebrate Myra’s life will be held for family and friends at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages people to make donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

RÉSIDENCE FUNÉRAIRE J.J.
