M. Mieczyslaw Dmytro Hawraniak

1938 – 2026

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Mieczyslaw Dmytro Hawraniak on Thursday, February 26th, 2026, at the age of 87. He passed away peacefully at the Montreal General Hospital.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Anna Capar Hawraniak, he leaves to mourn his cherished children son Mark, daughter-in-law Oxana, daughter Elizabeth, and son-in- law Paul. He also leaves behind his adored granddaughters Emilia, Olivia and Julia, and many relatives in Canada, the U.S. and Poland.

After dedicating many years to his profession as a teacher in Poland, he enjoyed a long career at Air Canada.

He was a hard working, resilient, resourceful and devoted family man but also enjoyed learning and discussing philosophy, physics and astronomy.

He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will take place Friday, March 6th, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with Panahyda at 7:30 p.m. at J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home (2125 Notre-Dame, Lachine, QC  H8S 2G5).

The Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Basil the Great Ukrainian Catholic Church (875 rue Provost, Lachine, QC  H8S 1M8), followed by burial at The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Cemetery ( 665 av. de L’Église, Dorval, QC).
