Captain N.S.J « Neil » Elliott, Air Canada Pilot (retired), 1936-2024.
Captain Neil Elliott took his last flight on the morning of Wednesday, May 15th in his 87th year. Neil was born in London, England to John and Ebba Elliott. They, along with Neil’s brother Peter Nicholas (Nick), moved to Canada in 1947 and settled in Montreal and later moved to Lachine, Quebec. Neil graduated Loyola High School and later attended Loyola College in N.D.G.
The « Captain » joined Trans Canada Airlines in 1957. While on furlough, he worked for Quebec Air for two years and returned to Air Canada for an impressive thirty-eight year career. Throughout the years he piloted many aircraft, starting as a First Officer on the Douglas DC-8, proudly taking the Captain’s seat on the Vickers Viscount and ending his aviation career as Captain of the Boeing 747 Jumbo. Neil had a passion for and participated in all sports and enjoyed many years as a Professional Hockey Scout and a Harness Racing Owner. Neil was the loving Father of Dale (Daniela), Christopher, and David and proud Grandpa of Nicholas, Megan, Ethan, Erika, Cameron, and Kaitlyn.
At Neil’s request, there will be no funeral service. Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation at the J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval, Quebec on May 24th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, followed by an informal gathering in Neil’s honour at Le Vieux Dorval, (D.T.).
