Bobbie Byrne (nee Moira Farmer), 83, passed away peacefully last Thursday surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her sister Jane Knill (married to Bruce Knill) and brother Russell Farmer (married to Sue Farmer). She is survived by her beloved husband Geoffrey Byrne, her three daughters, and their families: Leslie (Mark Gagliardi, Keira, Megan, and Jaimie), Nicki (Kevin Hawko, Emma, Katie, and Brendan), and Fiona (Glenn Gordon, Cameron, Lauren, and Adam).
Bobbie was born and raised in the seaside town of Herne Bay, England, during World War II to her parents Moira and Russell Farmer. She went on to study in London, England where she met the love of her life, Geoffrey Byrne. They married in 1963 and set sail to Montreal in 1964 with two trunks of possessions and the clothes on their backs. In Canada, they welcomed their three daughters and settled in Beaconsfield, Quebec to establish their home and raise their family. They made many close friends who became their extended family, with whom they celebrated holidays and family events throughout the decades. Bobbie had a gentle soul with a strong spirit and a deep faith. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and friend. She was so much to so many and there was no one like her. She will be so greatly missed.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, January 4th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home located at 560 Chemin du Bord-Du-Lac-Lakeshore, Dorval, Quebec. A mass to celebrate her life will be held at St. Edmund of Canterbury Church on Friday, January 5th at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Montreal.
