1948-2023
It is with profound sadness that the family of Jill Noftall announce her passing on March 12th, at the age of 74 years.
She will be forever missed and loved by her children Allyson (Blair), Douglas (Pixie) and her grandchildren Charlie, Darcy and Fiona. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Alvin, her parents Catherine and Roy Cleaver and her brother Chris. She was a much beloved sister to Susan (the late Thomas Bell) and Stephen (Ginny). She will be dearly missed by her brother and sister in-laws Linda, Ruth, Selma, Jocelyn, Ian, Doug, Lorne, Glenn, and William. She was loved by all her nieces and nephews and will be missed by many colleagues and friends.
Jill was a sports enthusiast: a lifeguard in her teen years, participant in many sports and a golfer until Fall 2022. She chauffeured Allyson and Doug to all of their sports events including ringuette, soccer, hockey, baseball and to many ski hills! She loved watching hockey and golf and loved taking baseball statistics at Doug’s games. She was a super fan of her grandchildren’s sports as well.
Jill worked at the CIBC bank in the late 1960’s where she met and trained Alvin as a bank teller. She then married and dedicated her time to raising her children. Jill returned to school at the age of 50 and completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Concordia University and a Master’s degree from McGill University. She then began her career as a passionate Psychotherapist, spending much of her time involved with the Private Practitioners Chapter of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) first as the Director on the Board and then as Vice-President. In 2017, she was awarded the Justine Harris Award for Excellence in Counselling.
Jill loved shopping and getting a good deal! She was great with numbers and could calculate a discount in no time. She was the best customer of the Bay where she spent many hours buying AND returning items. Finally, Jill enjoyed travelling and especially loved spending time at the beach and shops in Maine.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 2pm at the Church of All Saints by the Lake. 865 Chem. du Bord-du-Lac-Lakeshore, Dorval, QC H9S 2C7
In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please donate to the Montreal Neurological Institute, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Jewish General Hospital.
