It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chan Kai Yee Godfrey.
Born in Shantou, Guangdong, China. He died peacefully at home in Dorval on April 24, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife Martha Filion Chan, his cherished three children Souis, Souling (Pierre Bertrand) and Soukwan, from his first wife Gaétane St-Pierre, his treasured three grandsons Sam (Sophie Brunelle), Nathan (Léanne Brabant) and Benjamin, his adored sister Sarah Kai Shuk and his dearest brothers Samuel K P (Cecilia Pao Wen Mi), Martin K Y (Nancy Chow) and Godwin K S (Theresa Shao).
He was an esteemed Uncle and Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews from Hong Kong: Yien Yee, Mei Ching, Mei Shan, Wei Tek, Lillian, Lena, Eugene, Marcus, Gregory, Elan, Daniel (Lauren Pan), Chloe, Valerie, from Singapore: Kiat Joo (Dr. David Tan), Dr. Gerald (Dr. Annette Ang), Dr. Barrie (Le Peng Tan), Wang Joo (Edmund Wee), Yi Zhen Tan, Zhen Yang Wee, Dr. Seung Po (Dr. Elsie Heng), Dr. Paul (Sue Zhen Tan), Cheryl (Joel Gwee), Deborah, Seung Yuen (Linda Lee), Clarine (Chris Wheeler), Denis (Ginger Soczka), Siang Wah, Tzse Shin (Amy Tan), Tzse Han (Sharon Khoo), Dr. Glorijoy (Shangjun Tang), Seung Swee (Yee Hiang Lee), Dr. Justin (Shumin Tan), Dr. Aloysius (Dr. Daphne Chua), Siang Teck (Dr. Buay Imm Tan), Emilia (Han Jie Lee), Dexter, Charissa (Timon Chiong), Siang Hoon (Tuck Meng Choo), Glenn and Lynn, from Vancouver: Alice Wong (Robert Chow), Karen, Kavin, Nicholas Wong (Betty Wong), Clara, Ben, Wan Jing/Wan Ching, Emily Pu, Wan Wah/Yin Wah (Alex Leong), Henry,Terry, Wan Hing/Yin Hing (Ken Aeng) Ellisa, Emily, Sandra, Wan Hong/Yin Hong Wanda (Winson Tai), Liva, Felix, Wan Ngim/Yin Kim, from Toronto: Dr. Douglas (Dr. Sharon Lee), Cordelia, Carmen, Dixon and Charlotte.
He was predeceased by his brothers Tan Kai Mow (Wong Chen Chun), Tan Kai Yong (Guan Sok Ching), Tan Kai Chian (Lim Seow Pheng) and sisters Tan Kai Gnah (Wong Yum Quin) and Chan Kai Yau and his dearest niece Yien Sun.
He will be mourned by the Filion family and his many relatives and friends and his dear classmates from St. Stephen’s College in Hong Kong (Class of 1956) and McGill University in Montréal (BSc 1963). He lived and worked for many years in Valleyfield and in his later years his home was in Dorval.
His wife and children would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many homecare staff of the CLSC Dorval-Lachine for their care and compassionate support offered over many years.
