M. Peter Rozum

1945-2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Peter Rozum. Peter passed away on October 29, 2023, at the age of 78, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and close friends.

Peter was a loving husband to Diane (nee Montpetit), a dedicated father to Sean (Maria Bentivegna), Jason and Andrew (Kaylie Morrell), and a proud and devoted « Guido » to Liam, Sofia, Thomas and Markus. He will be sadly missed by his extended family and many friends.

Peter dedicated over 50 years to the maritime industry and was extremely proud of his work. He held a profound respect for his colleagues in the field, which stood as a testament to his character and values. He deeply appreciated their hard work and dedication.

Peter is and was an incredible man, he was a man of unwavering integrity, known for his fantastic sense of humor, boundless generosity, and a heart brimming with kindness. His infectious smile could brighten any room, and his quick wit was always obvious when he shared a joke, bringing smiles to everyone around him.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of The Glen Cancer Center, Dr. Peter
Metrakos, the caregivers at the West Island Palliative Care and Nova, including Mandeep, Nancy and Dr. Brossard.

Friends and well wishers may pay their respects on November 2, 2023, from 4:30pm-10:00pm at JJ Cardinal Funeral Home in Lachine (2125 Notre-Dame St., Lachine). A funeral service will be held on November 3rd, 2023, at 11:00am at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George (880 Rue Saint-Antoine, Lachine), followed by a burial at Saint George Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery (2355 Duff Court, Lachine).

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Peter’s memory to his beloved St. George’s Ukrainian Church (www.uocstgeorgelachine.ca), where he proudly served as President for many years.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I will always remember him for being a jovial fun loving guy, a great friend to my dad Captain Ivan I. Coric and of course a lover of dogs, especially Akitas. He will be missed by all of us. My heart and condolences go out to his family. Rest in peace dear Peter !
