Au service des familles du Québec depuis plus de 60 ans !
Mrs. Maria Concetta Berardi Persichitti

Mrs. Maria Concetta Berardi Persichitti

Born in 1934 in the very small town of Torino di Sangro, Italy.  A devoted Catholic who loved life and would find every way possible, with nothing, to make things happen for her family.  Loving, generous, with a sense of humour to be envied, extremely funny who loved to play pranks at any given time.   She loved the beauty of nature, and of course fashion!

As a young girl, with absolutely nothing, and during war time too boot!, her escape was designing clothing using her brothers/friends old clothes; she would add embroidery details and voila! A new outfit ready to go to Sunday mass.

She fell in love and in 1955 fearlessly embarked in a solo journey to Canada to join her husband whom she had last seen at the age of 11.  Times were extremely difficult not knowing the language, no money, but so fortunate to have found a welcoming family “la famille Gerry et Rene Descoteaux” who took her in and taught her French and the ‘Quebec customs’.

Then, surrounded by the new arriving Italian immigrants coming from neighbouring towns this became our new extended family where we spent Sunday dinners, birthdays, holidays always together. As she was very goal oriented, nothing could stop her in going for what she wanted which was owning a house of her own. She worked 3 jobs and took care of us and the household. She was a remarkable human being who had so much love for her family, friends and neighbours whom she cherished so very much.

Strong lady was an understatement! The last 5 years her health deteriorating but she had one more goal, to reach 90 and she did, this year; looking as gorgeous as ever!  She was so proud and we took the perfect picture of her!  She lived life on her own terms and left on her own terms.  Missing Mom – are not even words big enough to begin to express our loss.  She left knowing that her family would be ok and ready….to continue life as she would want us to.

She leaves to mourn her son Nicky, her daughter Franca, her son in law David Whiting, her brother Gino Berardi, family and so many friends.

Forever in our hearts !

Family will receive condolences on Sunday September 15, 2024 from 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m. at J.J. Cardinal Funeral Chapel, 2125 Notre-Dame Street, Lachine, QC H8S 2G5.
