1920-2020
Peacefully, in Pointe-Claire on November 23, 2020, predeceased by my daughter, Ruth, husband Frank, and sisters Edna, Joan and Doris.
Throughout my 100.5 years, I have witnessed stupefying changes in global operations and communications. Having emigrated from England, with family at the age of 31, I have lived a wonderfully satisfying life in Dorval for 63 years, despite many hard challenges – which I surmounted with my faith.
After my children left the nest, and retirement from Rolls Royce, Dorval, it was my dear neighbourhood friends and volunteer organization colleagues who kept me motivated to get out biking, practising Tai Chi, taking exploratory STM bus rides, attending concerts, theatre, as well as daily friendly kitchen chats. “Tea-time” was always “on the go”, at my house, with fresh home-made English Scones.
My association with all these individuals, and my extended family, led me to experience some enjoyable gatherings, adventures and distant travels.
Many thanks to the entire staff of Bayview CHSLD, especially 3rd floor, who guided me with care and concern through the eventual stages of Alzheimer’s. Most of all to my devoted daughter, Jacqueline, who supported my well-being, in my home, until my mobility required CHSLD 24/7 assistance 6 years ago, where she visited me regularly. I am also survived by my eldest daughter, Janet (Steve), grandson Brian (Che), two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Chloe (all in Ontario) and my youngest sister, Hilda, (in SW England).
Thanks to ALL for brightening my days with laughter, conversations and love. If you wish, donations in my honour can be made to the Bayview CHSLD Auxiliary or Alzheimer’s Montreal, or a charity of your choice. With grace and peace… farewell.
