1931 – 2023
Audrey Burns (nee Grimwood) died peacefully in her sleep on the 1st of August 2023, at the age of 92. Her daughters were with her until the end.
Mom came to Canada in 1957 with her husband, Peter John Burns (deceased 1989) and their 2 children, David (deceased 2017) and Elaine (Brian Delves). Soon after they had a daughter, Anita (Michael Rowat) and a son, Andrew (Marion McMahon)
She left her family and friends in England to venture to a new land in the hope of giving her children a different kind of life.
She leaves behind 5 loving grandchildren: Christopher, Jessica, Shayla, Evan and Conner and 5 great grandchildren.
She was so very proud of all of them.
Mom loved to travel and when she wasn’t travelling she was learning about the people and places she would like to visit. She met many wonderful people on her travels and still kept in contact with them throughout the years.
She loved to read but her greatest pastime was to knit. We all cherished the many wonderful sweaters, hats, scarves and of course, bed socks that she lovingly made.
Mom made sure she looked her best and took pride in always dressing appropriately for the occasion.
Family was so important with Mom and she enjoyed when the family got together for special events. She was always excited contemplating our next event.
We will all miss you Mom, especially your wonderful sense of humour and those early morning phone chats over coffee.
Rest in Peace Mom and make sure you bring Dad and Dave up to speed. We miss you already.
