1937-2021
Nora Ellen Baxter Weber passed away peacefully at Father Dowd Home on November 8th, 2021.
Beloved wife to Dr Martin E Weber (d. 2008) and mother to two sets of identical twin boys two years apart, Mark (Christine), Larry (Sandra), David (Bobby) and Gerry. (This fact alone makes her a potential candidate for sainthood.) Proud grandmother of Julie, Russell, Colin, Natalie, Andrew, Jane and Michael.
Nora was born on Long Island, NY and met the love of her life Marty, at the Canoe Brook Country Club in Short Hills, NJ. She attended Georgetown Visitation (Washington, DC) and Rosemount College, PA, and then worked at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ. She followed her husband when he accepted a teaching position at McGill University and raised her four sons in Pointe-Claire, driving them to all of their sporting activities (football, tennis, swimming, rugby) while providing encouragement and support in all of their endeavours.
Many fond family memories were born while skiing at Mont Christie and Mont Tremblant and spending weekends at Lac Cameron. She was a real people person, quickly befriending strangers everywhere she went. She wasn’t afraid to voice her opinion, she loved being involved in helpful causes (Meals on Wheels), and she presided over family feasts with love and laughter. She never backed down from a challenge, from finding a lost toy to untangling knotted threads to reviving near-death houseplants.
It is comforting that she is finally reunited with her beloved Marty, somehow beyond this earthly life.
The family will receive condolences on Friday November 12th at J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval (www.jjcardinal.ca, 514-631-1511) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life at St. Edmund of Canterbury Church, 105 Blvd Beaconsfield, Beaconsfield at 1 p.m.
Contributions in her memory can be made to Father Dowd Home where Nora received the most amazing care.

My deepest condolences to Mark & his whole family during this difficult time. What a beautiful write up, it sounds like she was a wonderful person & will be truly missed. You were blessed to have her in your lives.
My deepest condolences to Marc and beloved family May she rest in peace ⚘
To Nora’s family and on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering at McGill, I offer my deepest condolences to you all. I remember Nora very well. She and I spoke many times over the years (mostly, if I remember correctly, around the poolside on the West Island) and I came to know her as a strong and caring person. I view her as a cherished member of the McGill community, just as I do Marty and Marc. We all mourn her loss. I hope you can take some condolence in knowing that your grief and sadness is shared by many, but so is our gratitude for having known Nora.
Jim Nicell
