It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Alvin George Noftall who passed away in Montreal on June 1, 2021, at the age of 75 from complications of cancer.
Alvin was the eldest son to the late Roy and Lillian Noftall of Grand Falls, Newfoundland. He was the loving husband of Catherine (Jill) for 51 years and was the best dad to Allyson and Douglas (Pixie), a Poppy extraordinaire to Charlie, Darcy, and Fiona who he loved immensely. He was a loving brother to the late Daphne (Ian), Linda (the late Bob), Ruth, Selma (the late Frank), Jocelyn (the late Gord), Lorne, Doug, and Glenn (Will). He will be remembered fondly by Susan (Tom) and Stephen (Ginny), as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will also be missed by his golf buddies, business colleagues, and close friends.
He was a long-time resident of Dorval, but always a proud Newfoundlander at heart. He was an avid golfer and a gifted softball and hockey player. He was a very generous man who gave his time and advice to many. He volunteered in Dorval coaching baseball and ringette as well as spending time as President of the Dorval Oldtimers Hockey tournament.
Alvin had a knack of mispronouncing words that could have people in stitches! There was never a dull moment when you were with him. Laughter was definitely the soundtrack of his life. He loved people and so enjoyed throwing a party! He loved his dark rum, lobster and some good old Newfie music.
He was a CPA in Dorval for over 30 years. For the last few months, his team was instrumental in carrying on his work. A special thank you to Trish for everything she has done.
A service to celebrate his life will be announced and held at a later date.

We were so saddened to hear of Al’s passing. Our sincere condolences to Jill, Doug and Allyson and their families as well as the entire Noftall clan.

We remember Al from many years together in minor sports with our sons. Always happy , always kind, laughed lots and was a joy to be around. We are broken hearted for your family. Please accept our sincere condolences, with many blessings and much love ❤️
Sincere sympathies on Al’s passing to Jill and family. Al and I were friends in the years when we both worked for the CIBC. He was also a valuable teammate on the bank’s fastball team. As I live in nearby Lachine I would occasionally have the pleasure of meeting up with Al for a short chat at Dorval Gardens. He was as friendly then as he was 50 years ago. Rest in peace old friend.
Many thanks to Al. for handling our taxes so competently over the years. It was very reassuring to know they were in good hands.

Dear Jill and family. Mary and I were so saddened to hear of Al’s passing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. I have known Al for many years and made many long lasting memories – playing golf, going out for supper, get togethers. We had great times together and I will cherish them forever. He brought smiles and laughs to all of us who were lucky to know him. He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.
We were shocked and saddened to read of Al’s death in the Gazette on Saturday, June 5, 2021. He was our very capable accountant for almost thirty years. Our having spent seven years living and working in St. John’s, Newfoundland, always led to a little extra camaraderie between us when we visited his office. He will be sorely missed.
