It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Edwin Romero on July 13th, 2022 with his treasured family by his side. Edwin fought a heroic battle for 57 days and was a true warrior. Incredible husband and soulmate to the love of his life, Darlene, for 45 wonderful years. Devoted and adored father to Cheryl (Rani), Cindy (Vince), Carolyn (Jason). Precious and dearly cherished grandpa to Ivylea, Everett and Maverick. They were all his treasures, his meaning and purpose in life. He also leaves behind his mother, Maria Teresa, his brother Tomas, many uncles and cousins.
Edwin was always happiest when surrounded by his loving family and delighted in spending quality time at the lakeside family cottage, the oasis in the Laurentians in which he created with so much love and devotion. His laugh was infectious and his listening ear always a comfort. He lifted people’s spirits with just a kind eye and a smile. Edwin was a strong silent type always ready to lend a helping hand and truly cared about everyone.
Edwin came to Canada at 18, fearless, intelligent and worked extremely hard in all aspects of his life. He had an illustrious and accomplished career in the Aerospace industry, namely Pratt and Whitney, Bell Helicopter and Bombardier for over 43 years.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The world has lost a gentle soul and heaven has gained an angel. It will never be the same without him.
The Romero family extends their sincere thanks and gratitude for the dedicated compassion and care of the entire medical team and staff at the Montreal Neurological Institute. In addition, many thanks to everyone who reached out with love and care during this difficult time. It will forever be appreciated.
Edwin, you will always be our hero and forever in our hearts. Taken too soon but never forgotten, now our guardian angel. Rest in Peace our Papito.
The family will receive condolences at J.J Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore drive, Dorval, H9S 2B3, on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022. Visitation will be held from 10am – 1pm, followed by chapel service at 1pm.
