With a very profound sadness, we announce the death of Nicolas Houde on 13 December, 2023, at the age of 48.
He leaves behind his three beautiful children Zachary, Gabrielle and Noah, and his wife Rowena. He leaves his loving parents Lucie and Denis, and his sister Catherine (Guy). He leaves many close family members, friends from his Lachine community and other important parts of his life, and great work colleagues and students from UQAM and the Atikamekw Nation.
Nicolas was a gentle man who would not want to cause us pain. He loved wild spaces, forests, playing games with family and friends, long distance drives, and early mornings when the world was quiet. He was a studious man, loved research and academic and political matters, and felt privileged in his work at UQAM and in his contributions towards the support of the Atikamekw Nation, with whom he worked for 22 years. He was an adoring husband, father, son and brother. We will miss him and his guiding presence every day.
We invite you to share in a recognition of his life on Saturday 6 January 2024 at the Summerlea Church, 225 50th Avenue in Lachine, from 1pm, with a service starting at 2pm and reception following at the church.
