Mrs. Diane Spinelli (nee Rousse)

Mrs. Diane Spinelli (nee Rousse)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Spinelli (née Rousse) at the age of 68, in the early hours of April 24th, 2020 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Her spirit has joined her late parents, Gérard and Pierrette Rousse, as well as her brother Gérald and her sister, Carole. Diane is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Ronald Spinelli. Devoted mother to Mélanie (Jason Carolla), Sonia (Nicola Tozzi) and Mathieu (Marie-France Roy). Caring sister of Suzanne (Bernard Boyer), sister-in-law of Michel Spinelli (Anne-Marie Carry) and Jean Spinelli (Lori Cardinal). Amazing, kind, warmhearted “mamie” to her grandchildren Ashley, Annabelle, Domenico, Zack, Aiden and Vincenzo.

Diane was born and raised in Dorval and it is also where she met the love of her life and where they started their family. Diane’s life was her family; her husband and her children always came first. Family vacations, camping trips, sports or school activities, feeding friends and welcoming everyone in her home, making sure that every hurting moment was met with a warm shoulder to cry on and a way to see a light at the end of it. She was our rock, our pillar, our sun that will forever shine in our hearts.

Diane, Dee or Dee Dee, was a woman of great courage and strength, always concerned for others, even in the midst of pain. She finally ended her long battle to cancer where she gave it her all. She never complained, that was in her nature, and she was a fighter until her very last breath. Rest assured that amidst this hardship that we are all living today, she passed in the most beautiful and peaceful way, in the comfort of her Morin-Heights home and surrounded by her loved ones.

The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Owen and the dedicated nurses who guided us through her illness: Vivianne Amos and Marj Alvarez, as well as the CSSS des Pays d’en Haut for their excellent palliative services. Special thanks for Dr. Charly Morel, Julie Auger and Stéphanie Crispin for their care, kindness and compassion.

The family will be receiving condoleances at J.J.Cardinal Funeral Home located at 560 Lakeshore Dr., Dorval, on Wednesday September 23rd from 2 to 5pm and from 6 to 9pm. A private ceremony for the immediate family and on invitation only will take place in her honor on September 24th.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made online to the Cedars Cancer Foundation, and designated to the Medical Oncology Research & Care Fund – Dr. Scott Owen, or by calling 514-656-6662.

I just wanted to send my deepest sympathies to Diane’s family. I worked with her at Spinelli for several years, she was by far one of my favorite people there. She will be greatly missed.

Dear Ron and family, I was so very saddened to hear that Diane’s brave fight had come to pass. Diane was to me a very dignified and loving woman, a very kind and gentle lady who really loved all her family with her entire heart and soul. An exceptional mother and grandmother and a very caring and dedicated wife. May her love of family and friends live on through you Ron and through your beautiful family. My deepest sympathies to you all.
