1942 – 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Ildiko, who left us peacefully in her 78th year on August 19, 2020. She was a woman of great integrity and generosity who was completely devoted to her children and grandchildren. Everyone who knew her loved her.
She leaves behind her adored daughters Ildiko Horvath (Walter Santelli), Katinka Horvath, Lilla Horvath (Gary Ludwig), Leonka Horvath (Manfred Breuner), her cherished grandchildren Lörinc Del Motte, Thomas Del Motte, Michael Del Motte, Elizabeth Breuner and Frederick Breuner, along with her many beloved friends.
Ildiko will be remembered for her beautiful smile that could truly light up a room.
The family will receive condolences at J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 2125 Notre-Dame, Lachine (www.jjcardinal.ca 514-639-1511) on Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A funeral mass will take place the following day, Friday August 28, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Saint-Edmund of Canterbury Parish Church, 105 Beaconsfield Blvd., Beaconsfield, (514 695-7100). A private burial will be held on a later date at Notre-Dame des Neiges Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated.

We, our families shared so much happiness together in times of yesterday. Farewell words never spoken and all we have now are precious memories etched in our hearts. We will keep your memory alive by conversing about you wholeheartedly. I will share Missy’s comforting words to me ” I cannot help but think that my mom is now at peace with her sisters, mother, brother and that Betyar (puli dog) barking at her feet up in heaven). Very comforting words indeed. So I leave you now my sweet sis-in-law and sleep in God’s arms perpetually in everlasting peace.

My dearest Ildiko, and long time friend!
A long way back, in another world, there were four young women, just out of girlhood who met in Montreal and forged a very strong bond that has never weakened in spite of great distances. Life took us wherever chance and happiness beckoned. And yet the two of us, Ildiko and I were the closest to each other. We became women, we married and had children. We visited whenever we could and during visits we watched each other’s children playing around us. Life we good, we were young, healthy and life was full of wonders.
Then, the years passed and we became wiser, here and there our bones became more fragile but our hearts and souls remained as young and strong as ever.
I will see you my good friend among the stars one day. And our reunion will be wonderful.
