1935 – 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edmund Van der Wee on October 30, at the age of 85, after a very short illness. Predeceased by his loving parents Peter and Bella Van der Wee. Beloved husband of 64 years of Doreen Flynn. Cherished father and father-in-law of Colleen, Steven (Mary McPherson), Mark (Elizabeth Saunders), Irene (David Marsi.) Loving grandfather of Ian and Elliott Van der Wee, William and Julia Van der Wee and Sabine Marsi.
Brother of Bernice ( wife of the late George Fornarolo), the late Gerald Van der Wee, Ronald, husband of Lise. Brother- in- law of Kevin Flynn (husband of the late Helen) and Daniel Flynn and his wife Joan (Clarke) Edmund also leaves many nieces and nephews family and good friends and fellow volunteers in the Saint Veronica’s Seniors Club.
Eddy worked in the elevator industry all his life and was a proud retired member of local 89 of The International Union of Elevator Constructors and greatly enjoyed curling with the retirees group on the South Shore He and Doreen enjoyed many adventurous travels by car and plane, train and RV. Recently they met all their family in Ontario for a first happy reunion in almost two years because of the pandemic.
When they downsized in recent years they moved to a beautiful new apartment in Pointe Claire where they enjoyed the company of like-minded friendly people.
Eddy was a great man, a happy man who laughed, shared his stories and wisdom, wonderful memories that will live on.
A funeral Mass will be held at St Veronica’s Parish, 1300 Carson Avenue, Dorval on Tuesday November 9, 11 AM, visiting at 10:30.
Everyone welcome to the church. Due to strict covid-19 restrictions reception will be by invitation only.
