Mr. James MacPhee

1947-2023

We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of James (Jim) Archibald MacPhee this Easter weekend at the age of 76.

Jim was born in 1947 to Dr. Archibald & Mona MacPhee in Cornwall, Ontario. He graduated from Cornwall Collegiate & Vocational School in 1965 then went on to get his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from St. Mary’s University (1969) and Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto (1970). He was married that year and in 1975 moved to Montreal, with the last 30 years spent in the town of Hudson.

Growing up along the St Lawrence, Jim was never happier than when he was spending time by the water or in a boat at full throttle. Yet it was his passion for golf that he was best known for as it was the focus of his work and his number one hobby for most of his life. From his first post-university job at Fletcher Leisure Group to his last as CFO of Mint Green Group, Jim’s career often centred on the golf business and he had just been appointed to the board of Whitlock Golf Club where he had been a member since 1993 and had lived in the residences since 2017.

Jim leaves behind his four children Blythe, Drew (Caroline), Fiona (Ethan), and Quinn, his granddaughter Emily, and his step-granddaughter Isabella. He will be dearly missed by his longtime companion, Marie-Lynne Pellerin. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary, Janet (David), Bruce (Linda Lee), Ian, and Paul. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Margaret. He was also cared for deeply by his many friends, his former wives Donna Bingley and Patricia Reise, neighbours, colleagues, employees, cousins, nieces and nephews. All who knew him will never forget his huge heart and his great sense of humour.

Visitations will be held at J.J. Cardinal in Dorval on April 17 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm and on April 18 from 10 am to 11 am, followed by a funeral service and catered reception

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim’s memory to Helicopters Without Borders: https://helicopterswithoutborders.org/donate/

It saddens me to hear this tragic news. Jim’s family, and his friends have been cheated
By his sudden and unexpected passing. Jim was a great guy. I have fond memories of our high school days at CCVS. Our sincere condolences go out to The MacPhee Family.

I have known Jimmy since high school, we always had a great time then and when he came to Cornwall to spend time with all his friends. He was and will always be a Class Act.

My Deepest Condolences to his family

Bruce and family. So sorry to hear of your loss. When Jim walked into a room, all heads turned. He always had a great sense of humor and was a lot of fun to be around. He will without a doubt be missed by all who knew him.
