1946 – 2026
In loving memory of John Szewczuk who passed away peacefully on September 12th, 2026 at Lakeshore General Hospital.
John (Yurko) was loved in so many different ways, as a father to Natalia (Andrew Walsh), a husband to Rosalie Szewczuk (deceased), brother to Diana (Geoge Katsoulis), Louise (deceased), Mary (deceased) Szewczuk, brother-in-law to Ludmila and Doug Girvan, uncle to Christina, Stephanie, Larissa, Ollie, Tanya, Burley, Melanie and many other relatives. His passing leaves immeasurable emptiness in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
John had a successful career in Engineering at CBC which held many memories and interesting stories. A long list of accomplishments followed which led to encountering many people throughout the years that remained in his life as great friends. He loved travelling with his companion, Lilianna Perodeau and had a great passion for cooking and bringing people together over a good meal. He left many of us with his famous baguette recipe which was passed on to his closest family and friends. He was a warm-hearted man who loved to put a smile on everyone’s face with his distinct sense of humor. John loved meeting up with his friends from his Golf Team and Bowling Team and even participated in Golf until his last days just to show everyone how it’s done! His passion for playing guitar lasted until the end with Joe Bonamassa’s music playing in the background of his hospital room just because it brought him a lot of comfort even in the darkest days.
John’s wishes were simple, just to be remembered for who he was…the best friend, neighbor and absolute best father and brother ever.
The family wishes to gather in privacy, and no event is planned.
