Mrs Jean Louise Lalonde nee Hepworth

Passed away on January 26th 2019 at the age of 87 , after having fought a valiant battle with uterine cancer.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Richard Elie, her children Maryse (Duncan) , Renee ( Ron) , Martin ( Brenda) and her precious grandchildren Madison, Samuel, Matthew and Vincent.

She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she adored and in-laws who she cherished.

She studied and practiced nursing at Lachine General and continued to stay involved with organizations dedicated to health and well being, long after her days as a surgical supervisor.

Her life was enriched with deep friendships she cultivated through sports and leisure activities, community involvement and fundraising initiatives .

Active and high profile in her philanthropic endeavours, she was a pillar with the Lachine General Auxiliary, the hospital foundation’s board of directors and most recently as the president of the Lachine Community Foundation. Never boastful about her volunteer contributions, her work in these areas was a source of great pride for her and she was bestowed on a service award from the Government of Quebec.

Her friends describe her as an original, an animated story teller, a strong woman full of life and heart, a giving soul and an unrelenting fighter.

In most recent years nothing filled her cup more than having her family around her, hugs from the grandkids, socializing with good friends , hearing a good joke , listening to a friend in need, a game of a scrabble with a worthy opponent and looking out at the lake in Saint Anicet ; taking in one of its magical sunsets with her husband by her side.

All Funeral arrangements will be held at J. J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 2125 rue Notre Dame in Lachine. Viewing Friday February 1st 7 pm to 9 pm, Saturday February 2nd, 9:30 am to noon. Mass and reception to follow.
