Mrs. Louise Mary Hackett Urbas

Mrs. Louise Mary Hackett Urbas

Louise Mary Hackett Urbas, 90, passed away on 15th of April 2024, Ste. Anne de Bellevue.

She will always be missed by her husband of 65 years, John Christopher Urbas. Her loss will be deeply felt by her 4 children and their families:  Cat (Raj Mohabir, Gracyna, Ariane) Urbas, Kevin (fmr. Lurinda Rinehart, Kade) Urbas, Dan (Jeremy, Max, David) Urbas & Elaine Urbas.

Louise will be fondly remembered by her eldest sister, Lillian Hackett Montminy. She is preceded in death by her other older siblings and (their spouses):  (Marcel Montminy), Charles Hackett, Irene (Gilles Simard) Hackett, and John Hackett. She is survived both: by her in-laws, Denyse Poitras Hackett, Sophia Urbas Clark & Tony Urbas, and, by her irrepressibly funny girlhood friend, Louise Montminy Baribault.

Louise was born on the 8th of December 1933 to Antonia Maheux Hackett and John Kane Hackett in Quebec City, Quebec. Raised in a family blending French Canadian & Irish heritages. Her mother, educated in fine arts plus music, and father, owner of a maritime tug and barge business, instilled all siblings with lifelong interests in creative pursuits, sailing, and aquatic sports.

Growing up near Palais Montcalm and the Plains of Abraham, she became an accomplished swimmer & avid skier. Graduating with distinction from Leonard High School, she worked for Omega Watch Company of Canada, then Anglo Quebec Pulp & Paper. After raising her family, Louise finished her career at the Forest Engineering Research Institute of Canada. In retirement, her happiest moments occurred as a passionate fan attending “JellyBean’s” soccer games. Oh, we all loved you so.

Louise Hackett Urbas, irreplaceably gone, is not forgotten.  Celebration of service, 26th of July 2024, at L’Eglise St. Michel in Vaudreuil-Dorion, off The West Island.

In lieu of flowers, the Urbas family is asking all to consider offering a donation to either: Sainte Annes Hospital (https://fqv-qvf.ca/mercidedonner/), The Alzheimer Society (http://alzheimer.ca/en) or Fondation du Foyer Dorval (foyerdorvalfondation@gmail.com)

I have beautiful memories of a good friend and neighbour when we lived in Dorval. On those occasional times our paths would cross over the years Louise would always greet me with a big smile, a hug and a good laugh.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Urbas Family at this sad time.
