    Dear Don, Laura & Richard,

Please accept my most sincere and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your precious partner and adoring mom!

Her courage, her unwavering strength and resilience to continue to fight and win her battle, while trying the various experimental treatment that was introduced to her, is what I will always remember!

Of course her grace, her style, her kindness, her compassion and her friendship will be her legacy!

May Joyce’s soul Rest In Peace with the Lord!

Wonderful person, kind and always considerate. She had a great sense of humor. One of the few people who laughed at my jokes. The world is sadder place without her.

I am so saddened to hear about Joyce’s passing.
I had the pleasure of teaching with Joyce at LaSalle elementary when I first went into teaching. Her kindness, positive spirit, willingness to listen and help, patience and sense of humour will never be forgotten.
My deepest condolences to Don and her children who she spoke about often with love.

Joyce and I met while at McGill. After graduation, we spent 1975 to 1980 at Nun’s Island School teaching Grade 2 & 3. Nun’s Island was a small set of trailers in the back woods of the island and it was great! We also were roommates during those early years. We literally rolled out of bed and ran the two minute walk to the school.. When the surplus years were upon us we met again at Riverview School. In 1982 I moved to Mackay Center School and our years at the same schools ended. In 2010, Bev Merilees, Joyce and I retired from teaching. We managed to see each other at our retirement parties. I have lots of wonderful memories of this great lady.

I was privileged to work with Joyce for several years at Riverview School. She was a really creative, dedicated teacher and her ready smile and quick wit and sense of humour were much appreciated by her colleagues. My deepest sympathies to her family, Linda Phelan

I have a special place in my heart for Joyce. I find it hard to put into words how sad I am.
I read once in regards to losing someone as special as Joyce was:
The song is ended but the melody lingers on.
She will always be a melody in my thoughts.

I will miss Joyce. I have no words to express her leaving us but
I read this once and it is how I feel: The song is ended but the melody lingers on.
